Fashion Week feels immersive from the moment you step into it. The days are long, the pace is intense, and every space—studios, backstage areas, streets between shows—carries a sense of urgency and focus. Being present during both New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week meant moving through environments charged with anticipation, where everything unfolds quickly and with purpose, long before anything reaches the public eye.
Capturing the Energy at New York Fashion Week
In New York, Fashion Week felt physical and fast. I worked with Public Parts inside a boxing studio in the Financial District—a space that felt rough around the edges but still incredibly considered. The models moved through the ring as if they were sparring, and between setups we shot the lookbook in the hallway against bare concrete walls. Being there was about responding to the space and the energy in the moment, letting the setting guide how the images came together.

The Atmosphere at Paris Fashion Week
Paris Fashion Week felt layered and in motion. I worked with UFD, moving between show spaces as things shifted constantly—models stepping in and out of lineups, garments being adjusted at the last second, people threading through narrow hallways and backstage corridors. The energy built gradually, tightening as the runway approached. Being there meant staying alert and present, watching everything align just moments before the show began.

Practical Tips for Shooting Both Events
Prepare for varied lighting: During Fashion Week you will encounter both a mix of continuous lighting and photographers using flashes. Prepare beforehand on what works best for you. If you do continuous keep in mind some flash from other photographers might get in your shot!
Focus on storytelling: Both weeks offer moments beyond the runway. Backstage scenes, designer interactions, and audience reactions add depth to your portfolio. BTS is key!
Respect the space: Each venue has its own rules and etiquette. Observing these ensures smooth access and professional relationships.

Each city brings its own rhythm and style, shaping how photographers capture moments that define trends and creativity.
