The Photoshoot: What to Expect from Your Design Call to Reveal Session

For many people, being photographed can feel unfamiliar or even vulnerable. A portrait session isn’t just about standing in front of a camera—it’s an experience shaped by trust, presence, and collaboration. From the first conversation to the final moments of the shoot, my approach centers on creating a space where you can feel grounded, supported, and seen. This post offers a closer look at what a portrait session is really like, and how intention and care shape both the process and the images themselves.

What Happens During the Design Call

The design call is the foundation of the entire project. This is where ideas come together and expectations are set. Think of it as a conversation that shapes the vision.

Setting Goals and Expectations

During the design call, we''l discuss what we want to achieve. This might include:

  • The style or mood you prefer

  • Specific themes or colors you want to include

  • Any must-have elements or details

For example, whether you want natural light or studio lighting, casual or formal looks, or specific locations. This helps to understand your vision clearly and get the images you want.

Sharing Inspiration and Preferences

You’ll also have a chance to share inspiration images, Pinterest boards, or examples of work you like. This visual input guides the creative process and ensures everyone is on the same page.

Practical Details

The call covers logistics such as:

  • Scheduling the shooting date

  • Location options

  • Wardrobe or props needed

  • Budget considerations

This is the time to ask questions and make sure we are aligned!

Depending on our shoot time, we will plan breaks accordingly to stay present and comfortable throghout the session.

Capturing Variety

Reviewing the Images or Designs
